So I got an email from the xanga subscriber update dudes, and I am glad that I didn't remove the email alerts as I have with both facebook and myspace.. signing in wasn't as easy as I remember it being; xanga has done some remodeling.  But when I bring up my old profile page I am reminded of the simplicity of my first blogging experience.  Makes me chuckle a bit, but at the same time, I miss it. I miss the main connection was people blogging, reading each others work, and commenting on it.  I miss picking which color to make my main screen (although it stressed me out so much the first time, I never changed it again.) My favorite was picking out the words to go on my banner; they always had to be something really important.  (I did change those frequently, but always put much thought into them.) So, thanks for the walk down memory lane.

And allow me to use this opportunity to say a shout out to one of my heroes:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. SEUSS!
He's 105 today. Love the man and his work.
Speak a rhyme in memory of him today.

Catch ya on the flip--

Hello?

Hello?

Is anybody there?

Can anybody hear me?

Hello?

Goodbye 2006

Current mood: accomplished

2006
Can be defined with one word:
A m a z i n g . . .
-I survived a semester of 18 credit hours at Lakeland last Spring.
I got really good grades and one class short of graduating.
-I also worked both jobs: Chuck E Cheese and the bookstore
through the summer and continued to help with the youth
      group, when able.
-I had a root canal, that hurt.
-I sprained my ankle racing to Artic Thunder at Chuck E Cheese.
No, it wasn't really Meghan Tucker's fault...
-In the summer, I quit both jobs.  That was... really hard for me.
-I left for Bolivia wih a team from church, just like the past few
        years
Only this time... I wasn't coming home with them.
-I said goodbye to friends and family.  That was really hard for me,
        too.
-I lived in Bolivia for 6 months.
-I taught English to some neighborhood kids.
-I volunteered at a school.
-I helped with a Kid's Club of 400 kids every week and a Christmas
        party with over 800.
-I learned a little more Spanish.
-I went swimming on my birthday in November.
-((That was my 21st birthday, by the way.  That's the last big age
marker that people look forward to; 30 isn't so exciting...))
-I lived with (and next to) the most amazing people.
-In December, I had to say goodbye.  (One of the hardest things
I have ever done- leaving that place and those people.)
-I was home just in time for Christmas.
-I celebrated with my family.

This year I learned so many lessons about myself, God, and life.  The biggest one would have to be that in an ever-changing world, God is faithful.  No matter how your life changes, He never does and He is always that faithful friend there with you.  What more could one ask for?

2007
What is to come?
My plans are more fickle and foggy right now then ever before.
But, everything will unfold shortly.
Wherever this year takes me, I know that I will learn more about
         my journey and my Author.
Yes, it will have its challenge, but I am prepared for what it has for
         for me.
I will never walk alone.

goodbye, 2006...
welcome, 2007...!

time of my life

Current mood: melancholy

Time of Your Life by Green Day

Another turning point
A fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist
Directs you where to go
So make the best of this test
And don't ask why
It's not a question
But a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life

So take the photographs
And still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf of good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth
It was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life.....

It's something unpredictable
But in the end it's right
I hope you had the time of your life.....
*** ~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~ *** ~~~ ***

Thank you for that word, Green Day.  I certainly did have the time of my life.  I miss everyone back home, of course, but I am not ready to leave this place.  I am in love with everything about Bolivia.  I fly out tomorrow, get home on Tuesday.  Tomorrow is going to be break down central in the life of me.  But, I have a role to play at home right now.  That is where I need to be.  And I am going there a different person than when I left.  I have seen and heard and lived in different things.  They have changed me for the better.  Time has grabbed me by the wrist, but I will be back here, and I will never forget.

--south american lessons--

Sometimes,
God takes you from everything you know
to show you who you are!!

I am learning so much
... and having the time of my life!
